[ It was, of course, an inevitability that he would be receiving the draft code of conduct for review, but did Magnus have to send it when they were also processing an extremely convoluted murder case?

As much as Longarm would have liked to put it off, he felt he still needed to solidify Magnus' opinion of him. Which meant powering through it as efficiently as possible.

After an appropriate amount of time for someone who was not Ultra Magnus to review the document, the following response will be in Magnus' inbox.]

Ultra Magnus:

I have attached my annotated copy of the code of conduct for your consideration. The document is extremely thorough and I believe fully captures any issues that may arise on the ship. Most of my comments are merely suggestion where elaboration or definition may be beneficial given the multi-universal aspect of our crew. We need to account for different levels of familiarity with such a document.

I also highlighted topics I felt would be particularly valuable to include in the follow-up presentation or for discussion with the rest of the crew, which I am sure you already considered.

If there are any specific items you would wish to discuss, please contact me or we could discuss in person in the security office.

[Having gotten directions from the Vehicons, he comes stomping into Longarm's office. His first impression is that it looks...like an office. One of the desks is well-cleaned, with everything organized into just the right place--a stifling, maddening neatness. The other, Longarm's workplace, looks far more natural with its scattered styluses, piles of datapads, and the occasional empty energon cube. It reminds him of Rodimus' office, only not so colorful.]

I do have several questions about this Prowl. I assume he is from your own universe? If so I would appreciate a description of his character. I get the feeling he is going to be rather different from the one I am familiar with, considering he would not be at all involved in these kinds of matters.

[ Longarm looked mildly surprised. For the most part the various alternate versions of bots he knew were still recognizable. This looked nothing like the Prowl serving on Optimus' team on Earth. ]

Nice to meet you, Prowl. As you're already aware I am Longarm Prime, I've been working with Magnus on ship security. He mentioned you would be joining the security team in a consulting role and spoke quite highly of your capabilities, but did not give much information on your background. Can I ask how you've served the Autobots in the past?

There is a Prowl in my universe but he is quite different from yourself, so I hesitate to make any assumptions.

If it's an emergency call Prowl or Strongarm, they may be able to respond faster. I'll be there as soon as possible, but I'm at the hangar running the checks on the security protocols for the air lock doors we discussed earlier. It'll take me a few more minutes to get there.

[A text seemed unusual for Magnus if it was an emergency, but he couldn't think of another reason for the urgency. He cancelled the test that was actively running and made a note to start it up again later, heading immediately for the security office.

He walked into the interrogation room expecting to find Magnus with a suspect. Seeing the room empty except for Minimus, Longarm gave him a dubious look.]

Even if she didn't have ridiculous warden senses, Shockwave was still leaving a faint glitter trail wherever he went. At this moment, it led to one of the supply rooms, where Shockwave was helping himself to some of extra scientific equipment. A box sat on a shelf was slowly being filled with vials, tubing, wire, and an assortment of other items which he was meticulously tracking on a datapad as he went, predicting the inevitable request for resupply.

He turned as Moonracer arrived, regarding her casually. She certainly was looking more cybertronian than she had on Ekosi.]

[ Recently Bass requested some important information. Who... is the strongest Cybertronian on this ship. He received a hot tip that it was 'Shockwave' but also 'not the Senator one'. There were a few thoughts that went through his processor. One... it was really dumb that there were two people here with the SAME NAME. It must get confusing! Two, while he does (surprisingly) know what a Senator is, he has no idea what a Senator looks like. Do they wear signs? Bass guesses probably not.

This leads him to one conclusion: He has to fight BOTH of them to make sure he's actually fighting the strong one.

This leads him to a second conclusion: He has no idea where Shockwave lives. He could ask for direction, ask if anyone knows... but that begs the question... If they know how strong Bass is will they even tell the truth?

There is now one solution: He has to canvas the ship himself and check every inhabited room he comes across.

So there's the backstory. And that's why Bass, armored up in his winged Treble armor (being able to fly covers ground quicker!) is pounding aggressively at your door.

This one has to be it... he's checked EVERYWHERE else. ]

[Shockwave glances irritably towards the door. How irritating! Didn't this person have anything better to do? He isn't about to interrupt his work for just anyone, so he calls out from his desk.]

[ Whenever Shockwave returns from his bloody little jaunt there's something new in his lab. It appears to be a flat white slab the size of Shockwave's chassis. It's glossy on one side, quite matte on the other and is a bit featureless aside from a glowing boarder and a single button near the bottom.

Also the fact that someone's written on it on permanent marker.

[The voice was unmistakable, and Shockwave would have rolled his eye in annoyance if he could. The sounds in the background and the mention of Wrench at least gave the call some context, but that didn't make it anymore welcome.

Shockwave was quick to come up with a solution, though.]

Indeed, Megatron. I just received a report of utmost importance which requires your immediate attention. I insist you read through it carefully before deciding on your next strategy.

[Attached is a meticulously thorough report which he had prepared for Ultra Magnus when he was on the security team as Longarm Prime. It recounts the condition and maintenance requirements of every safety lock component on the ship. The report was over a year old, but he took the liberty to change the date before sending it.]

[ At some point when Shockwave stepped away, someone has visited his lap. There on his workbench is a large energon colored duck-wait no it's a clear duck. It's just full of someone's energon. Who's energon? Who knows! It's free energon though! Stewed lightly in the No Place so it's also a bit weird in a way that's hard to put a finger on. ]

It has been attempted before, however the success rate is rather low, and even if it does work the information is usually incomplete or corrupted. It also take a significant amount of preparation.
