You're assigned to scouting, correct? Just so you know the new code of conduct will have some additional procedures for off-planet security. All standard measures, but I thought I'd give you and your team a heads up.

Relatedly, there will be new security measures in place for the labs soon as well, after a recent incident. We are still determining the extend but do not be surprised if unauthorized personnel are barred access moving forward.

And just who decides whether someone is unauthorized?

[Well that certainly got a rise, didn't it? Any Starscream having such an interest in science was still a novel concept. He'd assumed the other was an outlier.]

Relax, you won't have anything to worry about unless you're exceptionally foolhardy. We're talking "pointing an energon converter at another cybertronian and turning it on" foolhardy.

Worst it'll be is a basic aptitude test and interview. Most likely authorization will be handled through the security team with approval from the captain and Wrench, though as mentioned we're still finalizing the specifics. Soon as we have it nailed down I can contact you with the details, if you're that interested.

[ Well... Starscream did point an energon harvester at some people, but that was different. He hadn't done it because he was unaware of the effects. ]

Considering the entire security team is — unless the roster has changed — comprised entirely of Autobots, you will forgive my understandable misgivings about such a statement. It could in theory be enforced in such a way that non-Autobots are excluded from information or developments made about the nature of this ship, or the space bridge behaving the way it is.

There's Deckerd. He's neutral as they come. Plus Minimus seems to have a soft spot for Decepticons. I'd steer clear of Prowl though.

That's not to make light of your concern. I wasn't online during the Great War, but I've spent my life protecting Cybertron from the threat of a Decepticon resurgence, and it's my job to know what they're plotting and what they're capable of. From that experience I know that on a ship like this one I'd rather have you as my allies than my enemies. Not that I'm thrilled with the idea, but I'm doing my best to be objective.

That said if you're worried about the bridge, I understand one of the Soundwaves is working on it. If that's your main concern you could go directly to him. Unless there's more infighting amongst the Decepticons than the nonsense the Megatron keep getting into that we don't know about.

I am aware, that is the Soundwave from my universe, albeit he is from farther in the past than I am. There is no better mind to work on the space bridge than his.

That is still not a balance. Why are there no Decepticons on the security team, if you are genuinely striving for impartiality?

Honestly, because none of them have volunteered or requested a position.

[ Starscream suspects that's mostly because the Decepticons aboard are either too busy trying to claw together some semblance of chain of command, or becoming too relaxed with the current state of things. They don't see that the power isn't in their mangled faction banners, it's in the leverage people have against the status quo of the ship itself. ]

Fine, then I am volunteering. Solus knows we aren't passing enough planets that need scouting to hold my attention.

[Longarm has to take a moment to question why, in every universe he goes to, there is always one or more Starscream there to throw a wrench in his plans. The other Autobots, Prowl especially, would be far more cautious with a Decepticon around. Not to mention another pair of eyes that he had to be wary of. Unfortunately shutting down the request would just bring him under further scrutiny, and he knew first hand how annoying tenacious Starscream were.]
